Winter Camp in Canada
The Kingdom of Ice and Snow
As we all know, Canada is located in the cold climate zone. For some Canadian provinces, the winter lasts for six months. In cities near the Arctic Circle, the winter temperature can drop to -40 degrees Celsius. The long winters make Canadians very keen on winter sports, from ice hockey to elegant and beautiful figure skating, in which adults and children alike take part.
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games held in Vancouver showed people all over the world the unique charm of Canadian winters. The Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Ski Resort is the most prestigious world-class ski resort in North America and only one hour's drive from downtown Vancouver. The lodges around the ski resort are also popular with tourists because of their excellent equipment and services. Each year, Whistler attracts skiers from all over the world to come for training and vacation. A winter trip here offers opportunities for developing well-rounded children through Canadian ski instruction and for studying and practicing English in a variety of living environments from staying with local host families. Here, travel and study can be done at the same time.
